Arte Sublime nell’antico Egitto (Sublime art in Ancient Egypt)

This volume is the catalogue of an exhibition held at Palazzo Strozzi in Florence from 6 March to 4 July 1999. I took the photographs for the catalogue in the Egyptian Museum of Cairo, where I had already worked two years earlier to produce the volume Ägypten: Die Welt der Pharaonen for German publishing house Könemann. I had the opportunity to photograph many extraordinary works of art but two in particular remain in my memory: the Nefertiti Bust, on account of the absolute beauty of her face, and the statue of the goddess Iunitna, a granite sculpture found in the courtyard of the temple of Amenophis III together with an exceptional collection of twenty-six other statues, all in excellent condition.
