Roma. La nuova architettura (Rome. The New Architecture) – Milan, Electa 2006 – Text by Giorgio Ciucci, Francesco Ghio, Piero Ostilio Rossi. An in-depth photographic investigation captures the break with the past that characterised the architecture of the Italian capital during the tenures of Francesco Rutelli and Walter Veltroni as mayors of Rome. The rediscovered urban consciousness of the city is told through the works (among others) of Richard Meier, Odile Decq, Zaha Hadid, Juan Navarro Baldeweg. With a focus, both from architectural and urban planning points of view, on projects designed outside the historical centre and in the suburbs: the buildings of the Toyota Centre by Kenzo Tange, the metro stations by Studio Transit, “The house around the trees” by Ilaria Gatti at Tiburtino III, as well as some actions on open spaces such as Piazza Vannetti Donnini by Aldo Aymonino (in the Decima district) and the Parco Guido Rossa by Luigi Franciosini (in the Settecamini district).
